2015-16 Prizm Basketball blaster

Sport:  Basketball
Product:  2015-16 Prizm Basketball blaster
Break Date:  January 8, 2016
Hit Breakdown:   Three Orange Wave Prizms
Summary:  Panini's 2012-13 Prizm release was one of the best releases the company has ever released. It had Topps Chrome-esque card stock, it had great inserts, and a few parallels to chase - Gold to /10, Green in retail, and then the standard Prizm parallel.

As time has gone on, with each passing year the company has released more and more parallels, and the product has lost its luster as master set chasers have found it's tougher and tougher to put a set together when there are 12 versions of each card.

Then, last year's product came out, and it was a mess. The card design itself suffered, as they had photos from the torso up with no background; in its place was a geometric design. A once great product, in my opinion, hit rock bottom.

With the 2015-16 release, though, Panini finally seems to be back on track. The card design themselves mirror 2012-13 closely - back are the action photos. There are still a ton of parallels, but that's a problem that can be overlooked when the cards themselves are strong.

I opened my first blaster, and was fairly pleased with the product. I didn't hit anything huge, but it's just a nice-looking set. Each blaster comes with three Orange Wave Prizm parallels, and I got no one of note - Josh Smith, Nene, and some rookie I've never heard of named Branden Dawson (he plays for the Clippers, and by "plays" I mean he's played 12 minutes all season over two games).

The nicest card out of the box was probably the Green James Harden, the All-NBA First Team version which are pretty rare (I think the box said they were 1 per 70+ packs). While this break itself was pretty lackluster as I didn't hit any huge cards - not like most do in retail breaks - or any cards for any of my player PCs, I was pretty impressed with the product and will definitely buy some more.
