Sport: Basketball
Product: 2016-17 Panini Prizm hobby box
Break Date: December 4, 2016
Hit Breakdown: Blaster: one auto or game-used / Rack: three starburst Prizm
Summary: After breaking the jumbo box, I got sucked into 2016-17 Prizm basketball in a way I didn't anticipate, and last weekend I was at Target and grabbed a few blasters and rack packs over two days
This year's blasters advertise a game-used or auto per box, and I didn't hit any home runs on that front. But, I did pull a /25 orange wave Prizm out of each of the blasters, with decent names (Paul Millsap and Draymond Green). Each was an eBay 1/1 for anyone that cares about that nonsense - one was 01/25, and one was 25/25.
The racks, though, were solid. I think the starburst Prizm look really nice, and there are three in each rack. I pulled a few rookies including Brandon Ingram, which is a really nice card.
The rack that had the Ingram also had an auto...and it was Gold /10. Dan Issel signs a lot, but he's a Hall of Famer, and to pull that out of a rack pack is pretty absurd (especially since it was in the same one as the Ingram.) Probably the nicest retail pull I've ever had.
Across the board I was really happy with the break. A Gold auto, the Ingram, and two /25 Orange Wave Prizms is about as good a break as you can ask for. For $70, it's about as good as a hobby box. I know that's long odds, but it was worth it.
