2014 Topps Baseball Series 2 blaster

Sport:  Baseball
Product:  2014 Topps Series 2
Break Date:  June 13, 2014
Hit Breakdown:  One Manufactured Relic
Summary:  Topps Baseball Series 2 came out with a bang this year, as the set was chock-full of short prints and variations that had collectors abuzz.

So, as my wife finished our shopping to send my oldest off to summer camp, I had her check the card aisle at Target for S2 blasters, and she picked me up one.

The blasters come with a manufactured relic, just like series one, and hitting Ken Griffey Jr. was pretty nice.

The short prints get tougher and tougher to pick out. Series 1 had photo variations and the sparkle variations, but Series 2 took it a step further with the Sabermetric variations - the card fronts are identical, but the stats on the back are different.

So, I checked out each card back...and low and behold, there was a Hunter Pence Sabermetric in there!

Each Target pack has two retail-specific red bordered cards as well, so the blaster was pretty packed with inserts and parallels. Across the board, it was a good break and served to tide me over until I picked up a jumbo box to try to complete the set.
