Sport: Basketball
Product: 2012-13 Absolute Basketball
Break Date: December 16, 2013
Hit Breakdown: three autographs, one memorabilia card
Summary: The third box in my three-box Amazon credit break was 2012-13 Absolute (along with 2012-13 Gold Standard and 2010 Triple Threads Football). I didn't know a lot about the product other than what I had read on the product summary, so I was kind of flying blind on this one.
All told, it was a solid box. For the most part, with 2012-13 basketball products, autographs are going to be rookies. Because of the previous season's lock-out, there really were no rookie cards in 11/12 products. So, they crammed two seasons' worth of rookies into 12/13, and as a result, there are a LOT of rookie autographs.
Each box has four packs, and each pack contains a hit - three autographs and one memorabilia card. I beat the odds on this box, and of the four hits in the box, all were autographs. On top of that, there was only ONE rookie - Meyers Leonard.
The other three hits were really, really solid. The Kevin Martin Frequent Flyers Materials is numbered to /99 and looks really nice. And, while the other two were redemptions, the Hoopla auto is Avery Bradley, and the last one was the hit of the box - a James Harden Frequent Flyers Materials auto, numbered to /49.
So, four autos, and one was a low-numbered Harden. Obviously that's a huge win. While it's clear most Absolute boxes aren't going to be as fruitful, this one sure was, and it was a fun break.
