2014-15 Prestige Premium basketball box

Sport:  Basketball
Product:  2014-15 Prestige Premium box
Break Date:  November 26, 2014
Hit Breakdown:   Four autographs + 1 game-used

Summary:  The day before Thanksgiving we were at our local Target, and they finally had the Prestige Premium boxes in stock. $200 for a retail box is a bit crazy, but with four autographs, I had to take at least one shot.

All told, it was pretty solid. Of the four autographs, all were numbered except the rookie, but the rookie was a nice pull with Aaron Gordon. Hopefully he rebounds from his foot surgery because he has a lot of potential.

The other autos were fairly satisfying. They were relatively low-numbered at /75 (Terry Porter and Phil Pressey) and /149 for Terrence Ross. I didn't really pull any huge names, but they're nice-looking cards and the Ross has a big on-card auto. As for the one jersey card, pulling Paul Pierce was nothing really to complain about but it was your standard white jersey swatch, so that's not to exciting either.

There were a decent amount of numbered bonus shots, and pulling a die-cut /25 Jared Sullinger was nice as well.

Comparing the Premium to the Plus to the hanger box, the quality of these cards is far and away the best. The card stock is pretty thick (thicker than the cards out of Plus, I believe), which is nice. Also, four autos and one jersey card per box is fairly reasonable for a $200 box (which, with a Target Red card, comes down 5% automatically).

I think, at this point, I'm done with Prestige, but Panini put out a pretty fun product to break out of retail. For those without a local hobby shop, it's the closest they can get to going to a big box store and getting a box. In that aspect, Panini did their job. Now, not everyone will spring for $200 a box at a Target, but if it's your only option and you're looking for instant gratification, it should do the job.
