2013 Topps Football Holiday Mega Box

Sport:  Football
Product:  2013 Topps Holiday Mega Box
Break Date:  November 17, 2013
Hit Breakdown:  No guaranteed hits

Summary:  So with all the hype surrounding these Holiday Mega Boxes, and how they were loaded with hits, it seemed necessary to give one a shot.

Obviously you don't read about most of the breaks in general, and those that do post on message boards are generally the ones who have done well.

The Mega Box is Topps' way of moving excess product through repackaging. It comes with a few packs of their basic football product, two hobby packs of Topps Platinum, and three Mega Box-only rookie Chrome Refractors.

While some folk get lucky and hit it big with the Mega Box (a few 1/1 autos have been pulled), this particular box was pretty much awful. Without even going into it, the best hits were the three Mega Box-only cards - EJ Manuel, Geno Smith, and Cordarrelle Patterson.

Outside of that, it was your standard insert/rookie fare, and nothing to get excited about. The product itself is a reasonably priced at $19.99 for a handful of packs (including two hobby packs), and if you're one of the ones who's pulling an autos out of each Platinum pack then it's clearly worth it.

But, otherwise, well, don't expect much.
